The BHYFL is happy to announce its arrival to the Black Hills. One of the long list of things that sets apart the BHYFL from many other leagues is that we allow children to play with other children in their same age group and grade level. We have all heard the stories of the 10 year old being forced to play with 13 and 14 year old Middle and HS aged students simply because they happened to weigh the same. His mental level is that of a 10 year old, not a 14 year old. This, in itself is more likely to put him in a situation where he could be hurt or injured than having him play with his own friends. The BHYFL has what is known as the Lineman Eligible Rule. Lineman Eligible (L/E) Rule: If a Student - Athlete weighs more than the set weight limit for his division, he then will be assigned a playing position on the line between the tackles, both on offense and defense. Naturally, this is where the bigger student athletes would be playing on the line anyway, but at least they get to play and be a part of a team in his own age group and with his friends. It has been proven that this is better than forcing them to play "up" or with older, faster and more mature players. Older / Lighter (O/L) Rule: ***New O/L weight max for 2012 - see below*** Student Athletes that are one year older than that of the division they desire to play in, can still be eligible for that team if they are within the older / lighter (O/L) weight limits for that division / team. The Student - Athlete must also remain the same age through Nov. 15th of the season. *An O/L cannot be a Lineman Eligible player ** Maximum 5 O/L's per team. ALL O/L's must remain their age through Nov. 31st, 2012 |

All New Coaches get to decide what their NFL team name will be in the BHYFL this first year only. These NFL team names will stick for their areas teams from that point on, so volunteer now and you get to decide!! NFL team names still available for new teams/coaches. |
| 2012 Projected Participating towns Teams and towns availability subject to adequate 2012 season registrations. If a minimum of 16 players are not signed up for any particular team (town and division), the BHYFL does not guarantee that there will be a team for their 2012 season for that division in that town. Players will have the option of switching to the next closest available team they are eligible for, or obtaining a refund of their registration fees. Please help us to get the word out and get your student – athlete’s team filled up early!!!
